Developing Type & Image for Poster Design

with Annik Troxler

Annik Troxler works in the cultural field and teaches at the Basel School of Design. With a strong focus on content, narrative and visual quality, she creates posters that use typography and image in different ways, ranging from typography as a sideshow to self-created type becoming an image. Her lecture will take us through a gradient of her work, methodologies, and processes. She will focus on how she visualizes ideas for poster design and the process of practicing and combining typography and images. She will have a look at the following themes: image idea, typography, specific techniques, and corporate design as different starting points for her projects. In Troxler’s design process, playful techniques and experimentation are significant, but there is usually a clear method behind or a sort of minimalism and functionalism that could be in relation to the Swiss type legacy.

This talk is scheduled for Friday, June 16, 2017, at 3:30pm as part of the main Typographics conference schedule. You must register for the Typographics conference to attend.
